It's over

Thanks for all the pic requests and I promise that I'll get to them in the next entry. But something more important came up.

A little over three years ago, this particular adventure began.

We tried it again 9 months later and we decided we wanted to make it stick.

Since then, we've spent two years turning ourselves inside out to try and placate a system that believes you're lying until proven otherwise.

It's over.

The judgement has been rendered.

Ghost has finally been granted his permanent residency. It means he can stay, he can travel overseas freely and, in two years, he can apply for dual citizenship.

It means I get to keep him.

I'm so happy, I'm dancing and crying and barely able to sit in this chair and type this.

The relief is palpable.

It's over.

We're a normal couple now, just like anyone else. There's no more spectre of deportation, no more proving we're genuine and that we're not terrorists.

We're free to make proper plans for the future. We're free to worry about normal things. We're free.

It's over.

Wow. Congratulations.
We haven't bothered to go through the process here, but it looks like we will be when we finally settle in Aus. I am not looking forward to it.

very pleased - bloody Brave new world we live in, sometimes backs off on the totalitarian control . . .

(what i wonder, since all my children and my spouse are all dual australian/costa rican citizens - why the aus govt it so jealous *i* can't apply for dual citizenship, i have to stay just australian, if i try to becomen costa rican apparently i cease to be australian. is that still true? outrageous! gah! )

oh but meanwhile: at least we're all together, and so are you all:

Fantastic! Congratulations! I didn't realise we had THIS in common too ;-) Went through the beautiful immigration thing a couple of years ago, I lost him though.
