Habitat

The habitat of the lesser rainbow banded hoop python extends down the eastern coast of Australia. They are primarily found in rainforest areas.

Prey

These snakes feed largely on small marsuipial mice. However, their bite can be fatal and they are extremely territorial. When confronted with an enemy, the hoop snake will take its tail in its mouth and roll after the intruder. They will then launch themselves at the victim and bite them.

Other Information

The information on this page is complete rubbish and has been put here to illustrate the point that you should believe only half of what you see and less of what you hear. Contrary to popular opinion, you are more likely to be run over than bitten by something deadly in Australia. Yes, we do have possibly the highest concentration of creepy crawlies (or slippery slidies) that can kill you in the world, you just have to go a LONG way into the bush and look pretty bloody hard to find them. We do not have taipans crawling down the main street, nor do we have dingoes snatching babies from prams in shopping malls. However, we do find it amusing to wind those people up who believe everything they see about Australia on TV or the movies.

No offence was intended, nor should any be taken. And watch out for the drop bears...
